The design of Head to Health Kingaroy aims to create a centre for the provision of mental health care services to the community that is both welcoming and relatable to enable occupants to feel welcome, safe, at ease and supported. This is addressed through the layout – the easy to navigate and legible arrangement of spaces to support the functionality and the flow of the centre and optimise the natural light; the aesthetics – the use of natural looking materials, appealing colours and details such as plants, feature lighting, art work and soft furnishings to create a warm and welcoming space that people can connect with and promotes wellness; and the aspirational goal to improve lives through the provision of services and the creation of a community to support the mental health and well-being of the users of the centre. Group areas are linked to encourage increased interaction, and are positioned for connection with the outdoor space to further enhance the community hub and optimise the potential benefits of being outside.
