Parramatta Head to Health, by Stride Mental Health, is a free confidential service from the Australian Government that connects people with services and assistance that support mental health. Base was thrilled to be able to work with our existing client, Stride, for the design and delivery of one of Sydney’s first centres at Parramatta.

The interior design of a space can have a significant positive impact on the mental health and well being of its occupants. The intention of the design of Head to Health Parramatta was to create a centre that is welcoming and relatable to enable occupants to feel welcome, safe, at ease and supported. This has been addressed in a number of ways through the layout – the legible arrangement of spaces that support the functionality and the flow of the centre and optimise the natural light; the aesthetics – the use of natural looking materials, soft colours and details such as plants, feature lighting, art work and soft furnishings to create a warm and welcoming space that people can connect with and that promotes wellness; and the aspirational goal to improve lives through the provision of services and the creation of a community to support the mental health and well-being of the users of the centre.
